Preparing for your move:

How far in advance should I schedule my move?

The earlier the better! 2-4 weeks ahead is what we usually prefer, but if you plan on moving during our peak times which is summer, end of the month, and weekends, please call our moving company 4-6 weeks before your planned moving date.​

Do I need an estimate?​

We usually can give you a pretty accurate quote over the phone based on the information and inventory you provide. We do suggest an on-site estimate if you have a larger home (4+ bedrooms), commercial move (office space) or any unusual items (pool table, piano, hot tubs etc.) Estimates are non-biding and free of charge.

Can we help with the packing?

Yes! Most of our clients request that we pack all their belongings as it will save them time and hassle. Our professional movers also know how to pack delicate items and fine art so they fare well during the move. We will take care of all the packing and heavy lifting while you sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!​

What moving supplies are offered?​

Our movers will bring a wide variety of packing supplies, including bubble wrap, tape, shrink wrap, plastic sheeting, blankets, cushioning, etc. You may also choose to use your own supplies. Please note that we cannot be responsible for any damage caused by the improper use of these materials. ​

Can I pack some items myself?

Yes. It is recommended that you pack only unbreakable items, such as linens and books. Remember, all owner packed items travel at owner’s risk. Our Professional packing services are the best way to safeguard against breakage.

Will my belongings be insured during the move?

All contents being moved are insured during transit by our insurance company and by us, unless otherwise stated. Your possessions will be protected throughout the entire process.​

Do I need to empty my file cabinet/drawers?​

Yes. All furniture items must be emptied prior to moving day. Please remove drawers, files, and anything else that may fall from the moving furniture. This includes any personal items like pictures, documents, clothing, etc. This helps reduce risk of injury and ensure there are no damages incurred during the actual move.​

Does Tom's Marathon Movers move pianos?​

Yes! We are fully equipped to handle pianos and other large items. Our specialty moving services include crating and wrapping instruments and bulky equipment. ​

Can you move cars?

No. We cannot transport vehicles due to liability issues. However, we can advise you about renting a truck/carrier from one of our partners.​

What items do you not pack or move?​

There are certain items that are deemed too dangerous or we are not allowed to pack and move for you.

Some of these include:

  • Bleach
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Corrosives

  • Ammunition
  • Perishables
  • Combustible items

Do you offer long-distance moving services?​

Yes, we do. We specialize in local moves within the Los Angeles area; however, if you’re looking to relocate out of town, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t consider us. We are the best in the moving industry no mater the distance of the move. How can I stay in touch with the driver?​

You can contact the moving truck driver directly through the phone number provided upon booking. The driver will always keep you updated on the status of your move.​

Understanding the cost:

Will the estimated cost be guaranteed?​

Consultants guarantee their estimates when they have all the necessary information to do so. We do not have any hidden fees. For this reason, and to avoid complications at a later date, please be sure to point out everything that is to be moved, whether in a one-bedroom apartment or on sprawling estate. This includes all items in storage areas inside and outside of the house or anything being picked up from other locations, such as cottages or storage areas away from home. You are encouraged to compare prices of other movers if necessary; we know we offer the best possible price.​

What payment methods are accepted?​

We accept all major credit cards, cash or cashier’s check/money order. No personal checks unless previously agreed on.​

What is your cancellation policy?​

We understand that emergencies happen, however, try to reschedule your move for a later day or week. If that’s not possible, please notify us at least 72 hours in advance so that we can offer our services to other customers.​
